Mountain Biking at Camp Carolina is such an awesome activity for all of our boys-it doesn’t mater what age they are or what skill level they are at, anyone can have fun mountain biking! Every year we have a brand new fleet of mountain bikes and we get them in a variety of sizes so that even our smallest (and tallest!) campers can participate and be comfortable on a bike that is the right size for them. We also have great in camp mountain bike trails so once our boys have mastered the basics on the flat they can hit the purpose-built trails right away. We then take the most interested boys out to Dupont and Pisgah Forests for half day, full day and overnight trips!
Last weekend we hosted the first race of the Carolina Youth Mountain Bike League series. Boys from all over the South East and ranging in ages 6-17 arrived early ready to hit the start line at 9AM. The day was filled with great riding, lot’s of cheering and of course was finished off with the traditional bike jump into the lake. CYMBL is the first mountain bike race series in the southeast for kids aged 3 – 18. The organizers say “Mountain biking the CYMBL way is a fun, safe, competitive approach to mountain bike riding and emphasizes a supportive spirit among racers.”
– To promote mountain biking as a lifelong sport
– To model sportsmanship for student racers
