“What is a prize trip?” is a question we always get asked… And since our final prize trip week for summer 2013 is underway we think it is time we explained it! A prize trip is a special trip, usually an over night during the final week of camp. Campers who are invited are campers who have participated in the activity on a regular basis over the session, have shown enthusiasm, passion and have worked hard at improving their skills in each class they take part in.
The prize trip allows the boys to really work on perfecting their skills in a certain activity while completely immersing themselves in the activity for 2 full days or more! The boys also get to spend time camping with their activity counselors (generally non cabin staff) under the stars and learn skills such as tent setting up, fire starting as well as outdoor cooking.
On Monday we had the horse, bike and sea kayak prize trips head out, Tues we had the second horse trip out plus caving and white water kayaking. Wednesday we have a big day of prize trips with wake boarding, mountain boarding, fly fishing and hiking heading out for the night and the golf prize trips heading out to putt putt as well as a local Golf course for our older boys. We can’t wait to hear the trip reports from these prize trips at final camp fire this Friday!
