Camp is back to its bustling best after a long, lonely winter here at CCB! Since last Thursday we have had 21 Camp Carolina staff make the journey to Brevard, NC for an amazing summer. Our counselors have travelled all the way from Australia, New Zealand, England, Wales, Scotland and Costa Rica to take part in the Wilderness First Responder course or to help get camp set up for the summer.
The first major project was getting the Camp Carolina Lake back to its awesome summer best! We now have the Blob, Aqua Trampoline and Aqua Slide floating around the main swimming area and waiting for some practice fun runs from the counselors followed by an entire summer of waterfront fun with the campers! All the team sports nets and activities have been set up and ready to rock’n’roll and cabins cleaned and set up for the campers to settle into. Campers, we are ready!
This afternoon we have the sophomore class from McClay School down in Florida arriving for some Camp Carolina fun! On the agenda we have night hikes, horse riding, fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, sea kayaking, rafting, dodgeball and best of all… shaving cream battles! We cant wait to have them here!
We recently celebrated out 88th birthday and received some lovely birthday messages from all around the world. It is always so amazing to hear how Camp Carolina has had such an impact on young men and women’s lives over the past 88 years…Alfred and previous directors have worked so hard to maintain the rich history of Camp Carolina and I’m sure the alumni as well as the new campers and counselors appreciate all the history that contributes to making Camp such a special place for so many people. Happy Birthday to us and we hope to see you soon!
