May 1st is ticking closer and closer for our newest tripping counselors who will soon be arriving to participate in the Wilderness First Responder course right here at Camp Carolina!
Matt Painting is a 24-year-old from Auckland New Zealand and will be leading many rock climbing trips this summer. Matt has climbed for 17 years and has competed for New Zealand in the World Championships-twice. He is currently in a managerial position back in Auckland and is super excited to get to CCB to teach the best sport in the world-climbing! In his spare time Matt climbs (suprise, suprise), hunts, hikes, fishes, exploring new regions and checks out live music. He is famous for surviving a night camping in a blizzard-Im sure the campers are looking forward to hearing that full story! He is really looking forward to meeting new people, exploring new places and sharing his skills. He loves New Zealand’s diversity and his favorite quote is “And in my mind I still need a place to go-all my changes were there”-Neil Young.
Kristina is a 22-year-old from Nitra, Slovakia and will be helping cook our campers and counselors delicious meals! She is currently a University Student and loves EVERYTHING about working in Camp Carolina’s kitchen. In her spare time she runs and swims. She loves working at CCB because she enjoys childrens cheerful and spontaneous nature. Her favorite thing about Slovakia are the mountains-especially during winter. Her favorite quote? “Smile is the noblest form of human emotions”
Thomas Young is a 25-year-old from Reading, Great Britain. He is currently a gym mentor at his local fitness club and he is really excited to teach Archery/Riflery/Fencing this summer. He loves playing soccer, table tennis and swimming and says he is famous for his sense of humor! He is looking forward to the all round experience of working at Camp Carolina and loves the history, traditions and opportunities of Great Britain. Favorite quote? “Loud Noises!”-Anchorman
Finally Joey is a 21-year-old from Preston, UK and currently helps out at a local table tennis club and works as a part-time photographer. He is excited to work on the photo-video team this summer to capture special moments the campers are involved in and giving them the opportunity to leave with picture to look back on and remember a great summer. His favorite sport is soccer but also loves playing badminton, table tennis and swimming. He also loves taking photos and designing T-shirts in his spare time. He is really looking forward to the new experience and meeting new people and ensuring the campers have the best summer ever. We cant wait to see Joeys pictures this summer!
